RESTAURANTS

This is a list of restaurants we love. Please note that the information may not be most up to date. Recommend that you check with the hotel’s concierge to help you with reservations if needed and other logistics.

Fervor

(Recoleta)
Address:
Posadas 1519, C1112ADA
Cdad. Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina

One of our favorite restaurants in the world. Traditional Argentinian food served by old-school black-tie’d servers with an old-world ambiance. We always make sure to go at some point when we visit, and it is only a couple of blocks away from several of the hotels recommended above, including the Palacio Duhau, our usual hangout.(Reservations required)

Piegari (Pastas) & Piegari (Carnes)

(Recoleta)
Address:
Posadas 1042 / Posadas 1089
Cdad. Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina

Two amazing restaurants in one, also one of our favorites of all time. Both are side by side, across the street from the Four Seasons, in Recoleta. Also traditional Argentinian food at its best, in a welcoming and relaxed ambiance. A popular spot for locals to go with their families.

Bodega Norte

(Recoleta)
Address:
Talcahuano 953, C1013AAS
Cdad. Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina

Located in the same block as El Cuartito (not easy to make the decision of which one to pick), this is the parrilla version of El Cuartito: great atmosphere, great food, very informal, old school, very affordable. A total must.

Cava Anchoita

(Chacarita)
Address: Juan Ramírez de Velasco 1456, C1427
Cdad. Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina

Best wine tasting & entrees. (No reservations required, very trendy)

MARTi - [vegetarian restaurant]

(Recoleta)
Address:
Rodríguez Peña 1973, C1021
Cdad. Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina
(one block away from the Palacio Duhau hotel)

The epitome of cool. As in a speakeasy, there's no signage, just an unmarked door and an intercom. Press the button and provide proof of your reservation and you'll be admitted to a dining room surrounded by greenery. The chef is Germán Martitegui, owner of the city's legendary meat restaurant Tegui. Well known for brunches. (Reservations required)

Piedra Pasillo al Fondo

(Nuñez)
Address:
Campos Salles 2145, C1429
Cdad. Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina

Palacio de la Pizza

(Downtown)
Address:
Av. Corrientes 751, C1043
Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina

Avenida Corrientes, in the heart of Downtown Buenos Aires, is well known for its theaters, its bookstores (although a little rundown these days) and its pizzerías. They are a bit grungy and decadent, and the pizzas very greasy, but fun to explore if you want a true local pizzería experience, particularly at nighttime.

Guerrín

(Downtown)
Address:
Av. Corrientes 1368, C1043
Cdad. Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina

Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina

Another great traditional parrilla, near the San Telmo Market and the Modern Art Museum.

Las Cañitas Neighborhood

(Palermo)

This tiny area within Palermo is well located near huge parks, the Polo Field and the Racing Track. It is also walking distance from Palermo Hollywood.

The four blocks of Calle Baez running from Ortega y Gasset to Clays are lined with cafés, restaurants and bars of every description. The street’s wide pavements allow for plentiful outdoor seating with the activities running late into the night. A few highlights:

Van Koning
(Baez 325)
You’ll be mixing predominately with expats and foreign students but there is no denying the fun to have at this Dutch bar. The inside looks like an old sailors dive and the bar is well stocked with international beers.

Chicha
(Baez 358)
Contemporary restaurant with a Mediterranean inspired menu.

Ceviche
(Baez 390)
Japanese-Peruvian fusion.

El Club de la Milanesa
(Arevalo 2870).

Las Cholas
(Arce 306)
Northern Argentinian food.

Plaza Serrano

(Palermo Soho)

Plaza Serrano is a square in the heart of Palermo Soho. Surrounded by noisy and trendy bars and restaurants, particularly at night, it also offers a crafts market (feria hippie) during the weekend. There is always a lot of activity in the area. Great for people watching.

(Palermo Soho)
Address:
Armenia 1540, C1414

Best for cocktails, very trendy, Franco-Vietnamese menu. (Reservations required)

El Cuartito

(Recoleta)
Address:
Talcahuano 937, C1001
Cdad. Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina

The best pizza ever in a classic bodegón, very informal. Located in the downtown area, a block away from the Teatro Colón, Buenos Aires’ Opera House. If you love dripping melted cheese by the pound, this is the place for you. A must. Tons of celebrities visit while in BA. Very picturesque setting. Argentinian to its core. And it is very affordable.

El preferido de Palermo

(Palermo Soho)
Address:
Jorge Luis Borges 2108, C1425FFD
Cdad. Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina

A trendy a must in Buenos Aires.
El Preferido opened in 1952 as a modest tavern. It occupies a pink building dating back to 1885, and is now run by the owner of the Don Julio parrilla. It retains its bygone character and offers a delicious traditional Argentinian menu.

Melo

(Recoleta)
Address: José Andrés Pacheco de Melo 1833, C1126AAA Cdad. Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina

Wonderful family restaurant mainly for locals offering affordable traditional home made traditional Argentinian and Italian dishes. It’s been there forever, and we used to go there almost weekly when we lived in Buenos Aires.

Aramburu

(Recoleta)
Address: Pasaje del Correo, Vicente López 1661
C1103ACY Cdad. Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina

A Relais & Chateaux restaurant, some claim this is the best restaurant in Buenos Aires. We have never been there, even though it is right by the Palacio Duhau and where we used to live. I guess it is worth giving it a try.
